There are likely to be a lot of moving parts this summer for Leicester City. And by that, meaning more so than the imminent departure of Jamie Vardy and Mads Hermansen. There are a number of players who are also linked to other clubs or are certain to exit the Foxes once the summer window hits.
Bilal El Khannouss and Jannik Vestergaard are examples of City players who most likely appear to be on their way out the door sooner rather than later. Even so, despite the series of reports that are out there, there will be some carryover from this season's squad into the 2025-2026 campaign.
With that in mind, here's a potential formation that could be used with the potential of signing Giorgi Chakvetadze, as there was previously interest between the two sides.
Sticking with a conventional 4-4-2 to not complicate things too much, an ideal fit may not be necessarily present in such an example, but it does illustrate a possibility of what LCFC could look like in the Championship following their relegation from the Premier League.
Predicting a Leicester starting XI
Stephy Mavididi, Jake Evans
Will Alves, Oliver Skipp, Giorgi Chakvetadze, Jeremy Monga
Luke Thomas, Ben Nelson, Conor Coady, James Justin
Jakub Stolarczyk
Keeper
With Hermansen expected to play in the top flight, Stolarczyk appears ready to take over as the City No. 1. This is particularly true with Danny Ward's contract set to expire this summer. They could bring someone else up or potentially sign someone else, but considering the tight upcoming budget, LCFC will likely spend their money elsewhere.
Backline
Luke Thomas has become one of the promising bright spots for City. Conor Coady and James Justin are two people who could extend their stay in Leicester despite playing in the Championship. Finally, Ben Nelson returns after his loan spell.
Midfield
Despite every media outlet already shipping Monga away from the Foxes, he probably stays at least for one more season. Alves is another returning player who was on loan this past season. A midfield with Oliver Skipp and Giorgi Chakvetadze could end up looking more like a diamond if the signing comes to LCFC, with the Georgian being the more offensive-minded of the two central players.
Attack
Many expect heavy interest to also lure Evans away from City. He too is someone who probably gets to spend a little longer with the East Midlands side. Mavididi is someone who has potential but hasn't quite gotten going in the way that he would have liked. Still, in 16 starts, the English attacker scored four goals in the Prem. Safe to say he'd have an easier time producing in the Championship.
What to expect from the side next season
Until the club makes an official decision to retain or ultimately replace Ruud van Nistelrooy, it's anyone's guess what the squad will look like. Even in the worst-case scenarios, however, there are good options for the eventual City boss to turn to.
Regardless of who ends up being in Leicester after the summer, this will be one of the teams expected to at least make a push toward earning promotion.
