After just a minute or so of Leicester City's clash versus 22nd-placed Sheffield United at their King Power Stadium home, the Foxes found themselves unacceptably 1-0 down. Of course, the timely and very early goalscorer wasn't just anybody - it was former Fox Tom Cannon. Some members of the Blue Army stated 'you have to laugh, or you will cry'. Others in the LCFC fan base claimed that 'you couldn't write this script'.
But the final comment is wrong: this sort of pantomime disaster is only scratching the surface of the calamity and ineptitude of the East Midlanders as an organisation from top to bottom. Or should I say 'from Top (Srivaddhanaprabha) to bottom'?! Following the ex-Everton man's strike (technically in minute two), one-time Crystal Palace defender/midfielder Jaïro Riedewald put the Blades 2-0 up on four minutes.
That scenario was enough, if it wasn't already, for Leicester supporters to head directly to social media and request for the once Queens Park Rangers head coach to be relieved of duty. One or two Foxes fans didn't wish for the hierarchy to wait for the whistle to be blown for the interval either.
But can a manager even be sacked at half-time? Either way, as the scoreline went to 3-0 prior to the break, I'd imagine Cifuentes' time is effectively up on Filbert Way!
You couldn't make it up
Old Tottenham Hotspur boss Martin Jol is the only cited manager to have allegedly been informed that he will be dismissed at HT. However, it was apparently just a friend that text him the information.
Jol denied being told by phone during the match. Although, he said his nephew notified him in the tunnel after the whistle, shockingly!
The end for Marti Cifuentes at Leicester City?
While I was only joking that I would want, or expect, a professional gaffer to be axed during an active game, I suspect the end is nigh for the 43-year-old. Though City did get two goals back, they ultimately lost 3-2.
