The manager of Leicester City Football Club, Marti Cifuentes, has been speaking to the media today (Thursday, January 8). Bosses do this in preparation for, or as some sort of sporting ritual of, an upcoming match. On this occasion, the Foxes are not competing in the English Football League Championship division. City now enter England's most prestigious domestic tournament that isn't a league: the fabled FA Cup.
Premier League and tier two teams receive a bye for the First and Second Rounds of the competition. Lucky us; there is still prestige in the Championship after all! This way, the intention is to allow lower rated sides to progress further than they may perhaps before when the so-called 'big boys' come into proceedings.
Typically, a club with the stature of the East Midlanders would rest some of their eminent and senior stars when playing what is assumed to be apparently worse outfits. That strategy offers chances for young LCFC Academy starlets and youthful or lesser tried recruits.
Yet mismanagement on and off the pitch has meant that the usual wholesale changes to the starting lineup are inadvisable for a potentially volatile fixture at EV Charger Points Stadium. However, we are yet to learn whether or not the former Queens Park Rangers head coach in charge at Leicester has suffered more fitness problems this week. So let's have a look.
Collating Leicester City injury news for the FA Cup clash with Cheltenham Town - which Foxes are sidelined?
Foxes of Leicester have consistently pointed to a higher amount of unavailable players in previous years. Although, City's injuries worries and direct issues are indeed multiplying at this stage, it would seem.
Though, according to Leicester Mercury, no fresh injuries have presently transpired. Yet centre back Harry Souttar, who was only in training of late after a year out, has undergone surgery. That and anything else that the outlet said of importance is underneath this paragraph:
"You know about Aaron, but there’s nothing else
We are working to see if he [Boubakary Soumare] can be available for the Coventry game
City also have Victor Kristiansen on the sidelines after knee surgery, while Harry Winks and Wout Faes do not appear to be in contention for selection. Souttar had undergone a minor surgery on a fresh injury and so he is in a recovery process again."
