According to a report from The Sun published roughly one week ago, Jamie Vardy is set to return to play in England. However, that was not all the infamous United Kingdom tabloid purportedly revealed, for the outlet went one step further to claim that the legendary footballing hitman will make go back to a former club.

Although, this is where the information became rather thin and altogether ambiguous in an unmistakably click-bait fashion. The suggestion certainly requires some attention!

Leicester City ambiguity over Jamie Vardy transfer

The report seemingly positions Cremonese as the striker's former team. A chapter that concluded after a difficult transition to life in Italy.

"EXCLUSIVE: Real reason Jamie and Rebekah Vardy are saying ciao to Italy after less than a year"
Mirror

Indeed, Rebekah Vardy appeared to cite issues with accommodation, the local cuisine and the complexities of her children's schooling as significant hurdles during their time in mainland Europe. The family also regrettably suffered a burglary while based abroad, ensuring that their departure from their previous home is almost certainly for good.

Speculation has since emerged elsewhere stating that "Vards" may surface as a Premier League player for the 2026/27 campaign. Yet it feels highly doubtful that he would be offered a starting role at that elite height, merely due to age.

The EFL Championship, or perhaps a nostalgic return to Leicester City or Sheffield Wednesday in League One, would appear far more suitable for a man who is soon to turn 40 years of age. Though that is definitely a mere number to the G.O.A.T.

"Jamie Vardy to LEAVE Cremonese after relegation with former England striker, 39, set to return to former club"
The Sun

Regarding The Sun's declaration, which explicitly states that Vardy is set to leave his current employers following relegation, they are clearly leaving the door open to a reunion with either the Foxes or the Owls. Hope for the ex-England man's arrival back on Filbert Way for the start of the new season exists. Albeit obstacles such as an appropriate wage and chief football officer Jon Rudkin remain standing in the City icon's way.
