The Blue Army would love nothing more than for Jordan James to remain at Leicester City. Even if the former Birmingham City man loves LCFC nemesis, and begrudging football expert, Troy Deeney.

In spite of that element, the attacking midfielder helping the East Midlands side back to the EFL Championship remains a (likely ungranted) wish. Along with the unlikely potential eventuality of overseeing the Foxes' return to the Premier League.

But, if you think James is staying in Leicestershire beyond this season, to quote the Wales international himself, "you have lost your mind!". What on earth is this all about?

Well, first of all, Leicester can't afford to keep James; he wouldn't want to play in the LE2 team's current division anyway. That scenario would essentially be a waste of talent, as hard as that is to admit!

Funnily enough, some die-hards among City's support won't have particularly liked to see James naming Deeney, his former Blues teammate, as the EFL's greatest ever player. Considering the latter was instrumental in one of the King Power club's worst ever moments (the harrowing 2013 Play-off Semi-final goal). Although, that incident and later transfer rejections could be brushed under the table, to be fair.

"I'm going to go with my boy, Troy Deeney."

Yet the most haunting, totally inaccurate and unjustified quote from the Rennes loanee was dismissing possible LCFC relegation. In a moment of questionable foresight, James claimed that those predicting the drop were delusional, stating he 'genuinely believed' they would thrive.

"If you think Leicester can be in League One, then you have lost your mind," the 21-year-old told BBC Radio Leicester.

"The players we have got are Premier League players and it will show. I genuinely believe that."

Opening his mouth there is surely an unnecessary regret; such hubris often ages poorly in the unforgiving theater of top-flight football. As James departs, he leaves behind a narrative with partial blemish from relegation and minor aspects. King Power Stadium will hopefully stand with dignity again despite witnessing another departing hero, with many more expected.
