Leicester 0-2 Man City: Three Foxes Talking Points

In their last fixture of 2024, the Foxes rounded off the holiday programme by welcoming champions Manchester City to the King Power Stadium. Despite their dreadful run of results, the team from the blue half of Manchester were clear favourites against relegation-threatened Leicester. In that sense, a 2-0 victory for the away side was no surprise. But that didn’t tell the full story. All the details here.

As Rob Tanner writes in The Athletic, City’s fate will be determined by four things. First is the length of the injury list. Keeping Jamie Vardy fit and getting Hermansen back as quickly as possible are vital. Second, the club needs a good transfer window bringing in players who improve the starting XI. Third, existing players need to step up and perform at their best working hard on and off the ball. There were promising signs of this against the Citizens. Finally, the fan-base needs to get behind the team. Booing players rarely has the effect of improving performances. Applause from the Blue Army at the end of the game on Sunday, despite defeat, was welcome.

What does 2025 holds in store for the Foxes? The chances are that half of it will be spent back in in the Championship but only a brave person would dare to predict the club’s fortunes with confidence. One thing is for sure. It is never dull supporting LCFC.
