Leicester City have a No.1 goalkeeper, so to speak, he is Jakub Stolarczyk. The Polish stopper has only made himself first-choice this season. He was a more than capable understudy to Dane Mads Hermansen during the last campaign. In the meantime Hermansen is not enjoying his time which remains in the Premier League after joining relegation favourites West Ham United.
The Hammers have been unbelievably poor this term under two different head coaches in Graham Potter and Nuno Espírito Santo. Hermansen has seemingly failed to impress the latter and has now found himself warming the substitute's bench in the hapless section of East London. As the Blue Army often have to reiterate: the grass is seldom greener on the other side. Ask now forgotten man Ben Chilwell!
Why do I mention Hermansen and former Foxes, well most of us considered Stolarczyk the heir apparent. He was. The 24-year-old staked his claim; he subsequently seemed very capable as the main man for part of 2024/25 and much of 2025/26.
However, the City goalie was a bit wobbly recently. He then wobbled a lot against Blackburn Rovers at King Power Stadium on Saturday. So much so that I can now understand why some members of the LCFC fan base questioned Stolarczyk's quality and composure before now.
Sadly, Stolarczyk's uneven form went under my rider with so many other underperformers! But pushing weak shots into dangerous areas, failing to catch and insufficient kicking didn't elude me.
With that in mind, are Leicester's powers-that-be reconsidering the 'keeper's prominence? It is claimed City will seek this relevant signing once the transfer market opens in January 2026.
Leicester City eye Anthony Patterson transfer
One of The Sun's transfer experts, Alan Nixon, has made another potentially telling Leicester assertion. Nixon suggests LCFC and Southampton are monitoring Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson.
"Leicester City are said to be ‘on alert’ with Sunderland willing to let their academy-reared shot-stopper move out on a temporary basis. LCFC are favourites as they monitor the situation, but Southampton have long-term interest and remain keen, Nixon writes."The 72
Patterson was supplanted by Robin Roefs this season. Therefore the Black Cats are said to be willing to sanction a loan exit in the New Year.
