The 46-game marathon of the Championship is now very much in the past for Leicester City, as they grow accustomed to life in League One.

Leicester fans will be keeping an eye on all social media platforms for news about transfers in and out of the King Power, with a clearout expected, as several Foxes players won't want to stick it out, now that the club has sunk to the second tier.

Stephy Mavididi looks as if he will be in that bracket of players who will be able to win themselves a favourable move back to the Championship, despite having a relegation to League One now blotting his CV.

Mavididi on the move?

Indeed, emerging reports seem to indicate that the one-time Arsenal youth product is on the radar of several Championship clubs, as the summer transfer window kicks into gear.

SportsBoom, who have been at the centre of talk surrounding Leicester signing the likes of Archie Collins, are reporting that both Watford and Derby County are taking a look at the hit-and-miss number ten, to offer him an escape route from League One.

It would be a risky move for either the Hornets or the Rams to pursue, considering Mavididi is just fresh off a disappointing Championship campaign, which saw him pick only three goals and two assists in league action.

Yet, it might prove to be a risk that works in their favour, if they can get the very best out of the Derby-born forward again, as he did manage to fire home 12 goals during the 2023/24 season in the second tier, when Enzo Maresca's Foxes triumphantly hoisted the Championship title aloft.

The best move for all parties does appear to be cashing in on the 27-year-old, who is a cut above League One on his day, with Leicester perhaps targeting this slick and tricky winger to fill a hole in the squad, if he does leave.

Leicester could sign non-league winger as his replacement

Tenative reports from the National League playoff final seem to indicate that Leicester could be going after Boreham Wood star-man Abdul Abdulmalik this off-season.

With Barnsley, Oxford United, and Doncaster Rovers all also in attendance to watch the non-league hotshot, allegedly, Leicester could have their work cut out for them to land Abdulmalik, but based on his constant darting runs at Wembley against Rochdale and his superb goal, he might well be a perfect Mavididi replacement.

At his peak, donning Leicester blue, Mavididi would run forward with no fear present in his game, and Abdulmalik has shown that same level of skill and daringness all season long in the National League, away from the spotlight being on him during the National League playoff final.

He has the output to back up all his tricks and flicks, like Mavididi, too, with the former England U17 international picking up a stunning 27 goal contributions in all competitions this season, for his promotion-chasing team.

Abdulmalik will believe he can make the daunting jump to a division like League One, after such a breathtaking campaign in non-league, and Leicester might well give him the platform to be a sensational star in the third tier, if they win his services amid a frenzied tussle for his signature.

Snapping up Mavididi would've been viewed as a risk when he first signed, as he had never played in the EFL, before returning to England after a stint in Ligue 1.

That paid off for the most part, so hopefully, landing the Boreham Wood trickster is another move that goes on to be seen as a sterling bit of business.
