On Friday afternoon, talkSPORT welcomed seemingly likable Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony for a chat with their chief football correspondent Alex Crook. Naturally, Leicester City Football Club was a point of discussion; the Foxes would likely be on the agenda anyway without the latest seismic news coming out of King Power Stadium on Thursday.
That revelation was that The King Power International Group, who owns and runs the organisation, have put LCFC up for sale. MacAnthony has operated the Posh for around 20 years and seems to know Leicester chief football officer Jon Rudkin, as well as chairman Aiyawatt (Top) Srivaddhanaprabha.
There will be more telling information on the generally despised Rudkin later on in another piece. Today, focus is on the very complimentary remarks made about the East Midlanders.
Darragh MacAnthony on possible Leicester City sale
Crook introduced the segment by stating that the LCFC owners may be looking to sell after coming under fire following back-to-back relegations. While noting that, only ten years ago, the Foxes defied 5000-1 odds to win the Premier League title.
In addition to that, the reporter noted that Top oversaw the FA Cup victory, along with reentering Europe, in the UEFA Europa League, and Conference League. Crook then asks MacAnthony 'where's it all gone so badly wrong for King Power?', not to mention 'if now is the right time to get out of Leicestershire?'.
The Peterborough boss admits feeling pity for Top; mentioning that the "personal tragedy" of losing Khun Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha 'didn't help' the situation. MacAnthony notes that Vichai was 'a big guiding light'; suggesting the current chair 'probably wants to sell' because he's been criticised by Leicester fans following double demotions.
The Irishman subsequently, and quite pointedly, suggests 'everyone in football has a short memory' due to what has been achieved on Filbert Way and at the Seagrave Training Ground over a decade. The 50-year-old, who comes across like a man of the people for somebody in his position, suggests others should visit Leicester's training complex, as he has.
He labels Seagrave 'the best of its kind in Europe'. MacAnthony declares the facility "unbelievable", citing the apparent £100 million spent on the development.

Yet most tellingly for the City faithful was the rival owner stating "anyone looking to buy a football club, and I don't care what the price of Leicester is, that's one of the best clubs out there to buy!" Interesting!
