Unfortunately for Leicester City Football Club, negative drama on and off the pitch relating to the actual sport has very much increased once more. In the meantime, City have been embarrassed by a rather small section of their fan base whilst travelling away. The Blue Army were not just anywhere this weekend, either. The latest Foxes fixture was a Midlands derby against old foe Coventry City.
A satisfactory, if not decent, early LCFC performance saw them get a 1-0 advantage in the first half. Jordan James again capitalised on weak defending and his own elite prowess to score another goal. Bobby De Cordova-Reid was instrumental in that finish with a Dennis Bergkamp-esque assist on the spin. Yet the King Power visitors to Coventry Building Society Arena capitulated once again; being on the road is especially telling.
Following the final whistle, as the scoreline read 2-1 to the Sky Blues, a faction of the Leicester faithful were not best pleased. They were also likely fuelled by alcohol. Sadly violence is then said to have transpired outside of Cov's ground. Not to mention scuffles and taunting supposedly occurring elsewhere in the West Midlands city. While reporting on that, there is another story to bring to your attention concerning the most recently sacked City head coach.
Former Foxes manager Ruud van Nistelrooy hired as Netherlands assistant to Ronald Koeman
Van Nistelrooy has a footballing pedigree, and probably a sporting calling. But his most suitable vocation is arguably coaching rather than being a gaffer. Surely the Dutchman has something to offer his country:
"Former Manchester United star Ruud van Nistelrooy has taken another step back into coaching, with confirmation that the 49-year-old has been appointed as assistant coach for the Dutch national team."MEN
Leicester City supporters apparently fight with Coventry City fans
It must be noted here that only a tiny minority of the either 'support' engage in such activities. In addition to all involved seemingly being to blame. Nevertheless, below is the report via Coventry Telegraph about various fracas in the area on Saturday:
"Violence reportedly erupted following the Coventry City game against Leicester City. Fans were spotted fighting and exchanging insults near the CBS Arena and at the Wheatsheaf. Officers were stationed in high-risk areas as part of a major policing effort on Saturday (January 17). Teams were positioned at key locations in Coventry, including The Wheatsheaf Inn, Broadgate, Arena Shopping Park, and Foleshill Road. Videos seen by CoventryLive showed groups clashing and swearing at each other following the game at the CBS Arena. But West Midlands Police said the situation was brought under control and no one was arrested."
