Leicester fans definitely won't be upset this player may leave

The Leicestershire team's defence has been nothing short of rotten for around three or four years now. Actually, that can be revised: City have been relatively awful at the back since all that money was wasted on centre-back Wout Faes.

While the singular year under Enzo Maresca offered a brief, shimmering veneer of competence, it remains the exception that proves the LCFC rule. A fleeting mirage of solidity in a desert of defensive frailty.

The entire backline requires sorting by the look of this season; the staggering volume of goals conceded with alarming regularity is insanity. It is a spectacle of structural decay that has left the Filbert Way faithful in a state of weary resignation.

Leicester City's Caleb Okoli to leave?

Consequently, it will be no surprise, nor a source of much annoyance, that the uneven-formed Caleb Okoli could soon depart too. The Italian defender, whose tenure has been marked by a frustrating inconsistency, appears to be the latest symbol of a recruitment strategy gone awry.

"Leicester City centre-back Caleb Okoli is being targeted by Torino, who have begun ‘initial investigations’ into a deal to sign the Italian defender in the summer."

There is a palpable sense of delusion permeating the dressing room, as most of these underwhelming Foxes will, rather wildly, consider themselves too good for the EFL Championship. Let alone want to ply trade in the apparent grim reality of England's League One.

Apparently the Italian is wanted back home, with Serie A suitors circling a player who has failed to truly master the English game. The East Midlands side will likely be looking elsewhere or seeking to replace him anyway, as the hierarchy finally acknowledges that a total overhaul is the only remedy for their long-standing malaise.

In the annals of Leicester's decline, Okoli's probable exit doesn't feels like a loss. It is close to a necessary pruning of a squad that has long since outstayed its welcome in LE2. Few will survive the cull.
