There are plenty of Leicester City fans who have made their legitimate complaints about the current Foxes' boss clear. In what is a largely impossible situation anyway, the current manager has not helped himself in the scope of what he can control in a lot of how the season has unfolded since taking over.
Even still, Ruud van Nistelrooy has handled the final matches of Jamie Vardy well. In a way that maybe the Dutchman is uniquely positioned to be the City legend's mentor during this stage of his career, RvN has shown a good display of leadership in this regard.
Granted, Vardy may not be leaving the club if it weren't for how the spell of matches ultimately led to a doomed year and relegation. How it happened makes that aspect that much more infuriating.
Giving credit where it is due, however, van Nistelrooy has been a comforting presence for Vardy since and in the discussion stages leading up to the announcement of his departure.
To be a good manager does not require having been a former Premier League player. Certainly, there is a large enough sample size showing that the better stars who then make the transition are the worst-equipped to handle the duties of being a coach.
In the case of Vardy, talking through what is next for him and having someone understand from past experience what must be a whirlwind going through his mind, the City gaffer has done well in this aspect of his role at the club for Vardy.
What's next at Leicester can wait for a moment
There are a number of names who would instantly excite the LCFC fan base in the event of RvN being released and a new face being brought in to run things. Those discussions can be had another day.
Right now, in what has been an important time, during a transition of Leicester from going to their best player wearing the badge to now looking for his next place of work, van Nistelrooy deserves credit for making it as seamless as possible for Vardy, all things considered.
