Leicester City Football Club have, finally, made their first summer signing - loan, permanent or otherwise. Hallelujah! Although this type of acquisition is seemingly, kind of needed - it certainly isn't what's desperately required in Filbert Way.

Therefore fans of the Foxes, including myself, are a bit nonplussed along with fairly unimpressed. To anyone reading this who may be involved with LCFC recruitment, or knows someone working at the King Power, please pass on this message: We need a striker!

Don't ask

Nonetheless, we have City transfer news for you on this Tuesday afternoon. And it concerns LCFC's first signing of the season, which was completed this morning. If you didn't know, as the agreement was announced recently, (very) veteran goalkeeper Asmir Begovic has joined the Foxes.

Obviously the squad needs general cover. But it is arguably pretty telling that a club is in crisis when a questionable, 38-year-old goalkeeper is the initial addition at this late stage of preseason. I mean, Begovic is almost as old as me!

In just under two weeks, City actually kickoff the 2025/26 campaign against Sheffield Wednesday at King Power Stadium. Talk about an unorganised, unprepared and possibly penniless organisation! How is Jon Rudkin still at Leicester?! Madness. Anyway, I digress. Rant over - for now.

As you can see throughout, I have peppered this article with tweets (or posts, if that makes sense in Elon Musk's world) from disgruntled City supporters and amused rivals. The comments are occasionally comical and particularly accurate.

Some commenters are just fed up with the way LCFC is run these days. And rightly so! However, what I'm saying isn't designed to denigrate or embarrass Begovic. He could well be an adequate third choice.

Yet the fan base remain concerned. I suggest that the powers-that-be in LE2 move fast on a centre forward, before it's too late!
