The Leicester City squad flew out for their Spain summer training camp earlier in the week. If you follow the Foxes as closely as this writer, you'll remember that they're often in Austria, but España seems to have become the favorite choice for off-season LCFC football at present.

Of course, Russell Martin has had to utilise and develop Leicester's youthful players over the course of pre-season so far. That's because the East Midlands club had to release many of their assets due to high salaries, low quality of play, or just being surplus to requirements in general.

The King Power club always knew that they had to restock with a more inexpensive crop of ballers. They will be supplemented by free transfers and loans.

However, due to all the great sales that Leicester seem to be making (Jeremy Monga and Abdul Fatawu soon, for instance, which combined bring in substantial funds) should give City a balanced financial outlook. Not to mention a decent transfer war chest in order to actually pay for some real quality additions to the roster.

So far, a couple of key recruits have come through the door to bolster the side. Even the Telegraph, an outlet usually trusted by fans, made the error of suggesting former Liverpool and England centre forward Danny Ings was imminently to sign a one-year deal before talks cooled.

However, the blushes of the broadsheet may have been saved if rumors regarding a medical failure carry any weight. Of course, many in the Blue Army wanted a goalscorer of that former capacity to be on Filbert Way.

Nevertheless, a figurative bullet may well have been dodged, as many supporters are saying, considering Ings's notoriously fragile injury record. The actual acquisitions that arrived at King Power Stadium were Conor Chaplin, the admirable attacking midfielder, along with ex-Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy.

McCarthy actually won promotion with latest the new City head coach whilst with the Saints. The stopper is known to just about be able to fit in Martin's system of playing from the back with his feet, which is the modern way to play if a team consists of competent competitors.

Whether LCFC have enough quality in defence and in between the sticks to execute the one-time Scotland international's footballing philosophy is another question. A glaringly huge question!

Leicester City fitness news

The City faithful were also collectively asking where Chaplin and McCarthy were for the Burton Albion friendly. An uncompetitive contest which Leicester won comfortably to make it three victories out of three in pre-season.

"They’ve been off for a long time so they’re not ready to play minutes yet, Harry Souttar the same. So the three had a session at the training ground today before we left, which they enjoyed."

Martin declared that neither had enough minutes under their collective belts to compete: which usually relates directly to match fitness. Additionally, Harry Souttar was also left out of proceedings due to not being fully ready for action; none of the trio appear injured per se.
