After hanging up his playing boots this year, Leicester legend Andy King has returned to City for a new role, working under Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Leicester City have seen their fair share of club legends over the years. Unlike most Premier League clubs, many of their legends established themselves in recent history. Of course, winning the three big trophies in English domestic football, against all odds, helped with that.

One of them which sticks out on a pedestal to Leicester fans is Andy King. The Wales international came through the Leicester City academy and ultimately made over 300 league appearances. He stuck by Leicester through thick and thin and he was rewarded with a Premier League medal, Championship medal and League One medal.

Now, Andy King has returned to Leicester City. Nope, not as a player (although we're sure he could still run rings around many Premier League players) but instead as a coach. In fact, he will be the assistant coach for the Under-18s side.

As someone who understands the merits of a great time in the Leicester City academy, there is quite literally nobody better for this role than Kingy. Having played at every level and only just retiring after a fruitful career, he will be the perfect mentor for many young and upcoming Foxes.

Writing a statement to social media, Kingy said: "Back home. So good to be back at Leicester City on the coaching side of things. Loving learning every day, working with some great young players and trying to have a positive impact on their own performances and future careers."

This might be a new title for Andy King but the role is nothing new to him. Indeed, throughout much of his final years at Leicester, King took it upon himself to coach the young players at Leicester at the time. He is the true definition of a leader, so he will flourish in this role.

This is great news for Leicester fans worldwide. It is not only great news for fans but also for the new manager Ruud van Nistelrooy. The manager with a long-term plan can rest assured that his young players are in safe hands.
