The Coronavirus outbreak disrupted plans for the testimonial of Leicester City legend and triple title-winner, Andy King. However, he’s confirmed it will occur.

It would be great to see some of those other club legends from the triumphant, beguiling 2015/16 campaign pictured above playing in Andy King’s eventual testimonial at King Power Stadium.

Thankfully, following the changes to sport and life as a whole following the outbreak of COVID-19, King will be given his surely poignant farewell for Blue Army to enjoy and reminisce.

The Welsh international’s legacy is an incredibly, record breaking entry into the annals of British football. And is, or should be, respected around the world. During his Foxes career, the goalscoring midfielder lifted the League One, Championship and Premier League trophies. All in the space of seven wonderful years for the Leicester trajectory.

Whilst at the club, “Kingy” also placed himself into the East Midlanders’ history books via the side’s all-time highest goalscorer list. He’s in joint-17th position, along with Foxes alumni Steve Walsh junior. We call him ‘Jr’ to differentiate between he and another Steve Walsh, the former Leicester scout, who’s of no relation.

Since the title-winning season – well, even in that one to be honest with N’golo Kante and Danny Drinkwater’s monopoly – the 31-year-old’s appearances have been increasingly limited on Filbert Way. Taking loans were his only choice for regular football.

That rare good news these days emerged from King’s recent interview with talkSPORT. Fans disappointed not to say a proper goodbye to their favourite due to the global health crisis, will get their chance.

Apparently Leicester and the player have been discussing a testimonial – which will occur at some point, King confirmed.
