Ruud van Nistelrooy was sacked by the Leicester City hierarchy on Friday morning. And an actually legend of the King Power club has been appointed as the Foxes' interim boss. But for how long? And what are the retired midfielder's true responsibilities?

Leicester City Football Club are now without a team manager after former Manchester United star and coach Ruud van Nistelrooy was dismissed from his position at King Power Stadium. The 48-year-old did not enjoy a good time on Filbert Way; in fact, it was almost a total disaster to witness from where I'm sitting! On Monday, typically, preseason begins; the terribly unorganised East Midlands club will likely not fill the currently vacant role by that date, June 30.

This leaves some questions for under pressure King Power executives: which person from the non-playing staff will take charge for imminent training sessions? And, if a permanent gaffer isn't installed by July 5, who will be on the sideline for LCFC in their friendly versus Peterborough United? A Foxes legend has reportedly been appointed as the outfit's interim head coach after van Nistelrooy's predictable yet tardy exit.

Van Nistelrooy inherited a dysfunctional and ineffective Premier League side. However, he didn't do much to motivate, correct or improve anything about the Leicester squad. I would argue that, in reality, he made things worse at the King Power.

A truly awful hire. Although, he did do one thing at LCFC which I admire. I can only really think of a single factor though, as I say. That was handing debuts to some very promising City starlets.

They were Jeremy Monga, Jake Evans and Bade Aluko. RvN also presumably helped convince Monga to sign a new contract; that is massive, by the way.

So which person now leads the Foxes? Andy King, a famous former Fox himself, will be the interim manager.
