The Leicester City situation is, as usual, a distressing cocktail of sentimental attachment and professional paralysis. At the heart of the storm stands Andy King, a man who represents the very soul of the club's golden era, now reduced to a human plaster for his employers' gaping, self-inflicted wound. King's interim tenure was meant to be a steadying hand: a temporary band-aid to hold the dressing room together while the hierarchy conducted a search for Marti Cifuentes' successor.
Instead, this has become a painful spectacle of a club legend being left to drown in a spiralling inner downfall and tactical vacuum. After the humiliating 4-3 collapse against Southampton, where a three-goal lead evaporated into the LE2 night air, it has become arguable that the this abject squad for the level of professionalism are no longer even applying themselves for the man in the dugout.
This is not a slight on the English Football League One, Championship and Premier League winner's character whatsoever. But a damning indictment of the environment created by the chairman, Aiyawatt "Khun Top" Srivaddhanaprabha and director of football Jon Rudkin.
Leicester legend Andy King was thrown to the wolves and must abdicate to preserve his own legacy
While supporters and ex-stars (see Jason Bourne and Matt Piper's scathing thoughts by clicking here) watch on in horror, the feeling among many journalists and long-term observers is that the ownership has become detached. Top does indeed treats LCFC's descent with a passivity, and occasionally poor humour, that borders on neglect and contempt.
There is a growing, vocal demand for the chairman to consider his position and sell. Would his exit allow fresh investment to arrest this freefall? Potentially; we are arguably well past the 'better the devil you know' period!
Walk away Kingy ... This lot will ruin your legacy ... Top and Rudkin sitting back watching you take the criticism ... It's what they do!! #lcfc 💙🦊 https://t.co/NNa6QJtgNE

King should not be expected to leave them in the lurch, yet even that would be understandable to many associated with the Foxes. His continued presence only provides the board with the convenient shield of the acceptable, iconic face of Fox.
If King chooses to abdicate his temporary throne now, it may finally force The King Power International Group to make the 'ambitious', permanent appointment that is months overdue on Filbert Way. For the sake of his own peerless legacy, King must step back before the toxic reality of 2026 completely erases the magic of 2016.
Any other interim will struggle to motivate this roster so succession becomes imperative. Nevertheless, much of the faithful don't wish for King to be dragged down or further tarnished by Top's insidious ways!
