Leicester City could do with a refresh on the pitch, ahead of a challenging League One season hitting their calendar.

With players such as Harry Winks, Ricardo Pereira, Hamza Choudhury, and many more noted as being the first personnel to be potentially offloaded, due to their excessive wages, there are also gaps to be filled in the side for presences who were far more popular.

Indeed, the one-time Premier League winners will desperately miss the firepower of Jordan James from the middle of the park next season, with James going on to bag 11 goals in the Championship as a rare bright spark.

The Rennes loanee isn't the only attack-minded midfielder leaving the building, either, making this a possible priority position to strengthen during a hectic summer to come.

Leicester will be looking to snap up a new attacking midfielder

While both Divine Mukasa and Aaron Ramsey were hardly rip-roaring success stories, as the youthful youngsters heading back to their parent clubs this summer in Manchester City and Burnley, their departures do mean there is a real lack of number tens at the King Power, ahead of next season.

The Premier League starlets would only combine for 24 appearances in total during their hit-and-miss loan spells.

Thankfully, Leicester were able to fall back on James to gift Rowett's men some attacking impetus centrally, but with the ex-Birmingham star now back at Rennes, as well, Leicester desperately need some fresh bodies to be exciting in the forward areas from the middle of the park in League One.

It would be a risky move, but the relegated outfit could fall back on this free agent to be a breakout star next season from the central midfield positions, who has four top-flight appearances under his belt.

Leicester may be tempted to land this free agent

The free agent market could be a fertile area for Leicester to exploit during the upcoming transfer window.

One player they might be prepared to take a gamble on is Myles Peart-Harris, who has just been released from fellow relegated side Oxford United.

At first glance, this doesn't stand out as being the most breathtaking acquisition, but it's clear that the 23-year-old is a promising talent when everything clicks into place for the ex-Chelsea youngster.

He did manage to chip in with three goals this season just gone for the U's, despite irregularly featuring, and he has shone in the third tier in the past, which will catch Leicester's eye as they try to acclimatise to their new home.

From 52 previous appearances at the challenging level, Peart-Harris has collected an encouraging seven goals and four assists, as he found himself on the books of both Portsmouth and Forest Green Rovers on loan.

Before Brentford allowed him to move to Oxford for good, he was also held in high regard at the GTech Community Stadium, with four Premier League outings even being handed to the 6-foot-2 attacker.

Thomas Frank, before he would disastrously leave the Bees behind, would note, too, that he was a "dynamic" midfield talent, while head of operations at Oxford, Ed Waldron, would praise him for always being able to have an "immediate impact" on games.

He hasn't quite been able to live up to the hype that was once attached to his name when rising the ranks at Brentford, hence his free agent status.

But, it could be a move that sees Leicester hit the jackpot, as the Foxes land a gifted talent for nothing that could help them immediately seek out promotion.
