Nobody knows exactly how Leicester City Football Club's starting line-up will appear as the next season commences in the third tier of English football. Indeed, every observer seems to be acutely aware of the Foxes' intense and incapacitating financial tribulations.
As a byproduct of this financial instability, the wholesale departure of much of the senior, and youth, squads could well occur. As a matter of fact, all three of City's most valuable assets (Ben Nelson, Abdul Fatawu and Jeremy Monga) could, and reportedly will, be relinquished to raise essential funds and ensure the club avoids further indebtedness.
The latter pair are expected to fetch the highest respective fees (sides like Arsenal, and more notable, are supposedly keen on Monga while Premier League clubs such as Everton and Sunderland eye Fatawu). Meanwhile Nelson remains pretty highly rated.
If the young yet particularly promising centre-back (who has navigated recent drawbacks and occasionally lost his place to less capable teammates) departs, a fresh defensive acquisition will be mandatory.
Manchester United are, albeit somewhat questionably, an apparent suitor for the Englishman; it must be acknowledged that robust back-up personnel remain a necessities everywhere.
Harry and John Souttar both at Leicester City?
Following a competent, goalscoring return to the pitch, bosses at Filbert Way including new manager Russell Martin will undoubtedly aim to retain Harry Souttar this summer. The Australia international is currently participating in the 2026 World Cup, yet his domestic situation remains fluid with a two-year contract remaining.

Intriguingly, the Leicestershire outfit may ostensibly look to add his brother, John, to the League One fold as part of their revitalisation project for the 2026/27 campaign. Whether such a reunion can materialise remains to be seen, but the intent to bolster the defensive line suggests a clear desire for synergy in the pursuit of an immediate return to higher pastures.
