Leicester must keep dodging Man United legend's awkward Championship plea

Over previous years, Leicester City Football Club arguably dodged a managerial bullet by not appointing Manchester United icon Ole Gunnar Solskjær. While Solskjær is seemingly a very likeable chap, and was an excellent striker - we don't want another Ruud van Nistelrooy paradox at King Power Stadium. Allow me to explain why singing Ole, Ole, Ole probably wouldn't be ideal for the Foxes!

Just say no

Former Manchester United fan favourite Ole Gunnar Solskjær has spoken about the possibility of managing in the Championship once again. Prior to his couple of awkward spells 'at the wheel' of the Red Devils' rather rickety coach, the former footballing hitman managed Cardiff City just over a decade ago.

The 52-year-old was Malky Mackay's slightly odd replacement at Cardiff City Stadium around 11 years back. That spell didn't last long either. Regardless of the Man Utd fan base's affection for the Norwegian, the majority knew he was ultimately unqualified for the post.

For Blue Army members such as myself, seeing Solskjær go to an English tier two rival like Southampton is far preferable to him joining the Foxes. The underwhelming downfall of a competitor's promotion bid would be ideal.

However, while Solskjær is connected to St Mary's, interim Saints boss Tonda Eckert has made a great case to he installed on the South Coast. He is seemingly expected to be confirmed soon, suggest BBC Sport et al.

Although Solskjær is teased as the potential next Southampton gaffer. Yet nothing concrete has been reported on either man as it stands.

What Leicester City really require

This may sound fanciful, but LCFC need a proven and experienced EPL operator. At this point, I would have gladly even accepted Sean Dyche. The equally in need Nottingham Forest snapped him up.

"Although there is a bit of momentum growing behind the idea of the Norweigian becoming the next Saints boss, there are precious few solid leads and his appointment seems a little off brand for Sport Republic."

That would also mean accepting a kind of mediocrity - but at least life would likely be in the Prem! Solskjær would be van Nistelrooy and Steve Cooper reincarnate on Filbert Way!
