Some light will hopefully be at the end of a rather uncertain and dark tunnel for Leicester City Football Club after a few disappointing years. Disappointment actually occurred either side of a fairly great year under Enzo Maresca in the English Football League Championship (2023/24). Yet, since the second contemporary relegation from the Premier League to the second division, darkness has enveloped the East Midlands outfit.
A decent signing or two would go a long way in helping this season not become a disaster. Strangely amidst very inconsistent form, the King Power team are still only six points off the Playoff section of the table. Though, scarily for Leicester's Blue Army fan base, the relegation zone is currently a mere 10 points away at this very moment. Not many people seem to be worried about that fragility or proximity.
Nonetheless, City's absolute precariousness is a definite concern that should be highlighted by bloggers, journalists and pundits. Why so? One dreaded and impending factor reported to impact LCFC's campaign: a Profit and Sustainability penalty in the form of a points deduction. Should the Filbert Way side receive a nine to 12 point penalty - they would be directly in the thick of a scrap to avoid demotion down to EFL Two.
As a matter of fact, a separate punishment is also regularly touted in certain lesser tier areas. If a second deduction took place this term - City would be doomed at this rate. Although, another incident or breach would surely be dealt with next year or next season.
The outcome of Leicester City's current PSR hearing is expected on this date - with another threat purportedly in existence roo
According to Stefan Borson (via Football Insider 24/7), a verdict will arrive 'pretty soon' regarding the first and actual charge. Next week or the week after, suggests the one-time Manchester City financial adviser. But there may be further accusations for LCFC to answer:
"Could Leicester be facing another PSR charge?
Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider it’s unclear whether the Premier League or EFL has jurisdiction over Leicester for last season.
The i Paper reported on Tuesday (13 January) if a breach was committed by any of the teams in question, it would be announced on Wednesday (14 January)."
