It has been brought to my attention that our site can be a bit negative in reflection of Leicester City Football Club. We certainly do not want to be thought of in that way. What we do is give a hopefully fair and accurate reflection of what LCFC feels like from within the Blue Army fan base at any given moment. We scrutinise as well as analyse every event which occurs on-pitch. Not to mention offering opinion of the Foxes' off the field activities.

I must admit that this coverage has been a challenge regarding two of the past three seasons. And this one is arguably most difficult of all! However, I do have a rare City success story from 2025/26 to detail and explain to the support today (Monday, December 29). Later on this evening, Leicester play Midlands rivals Derby County at King Power Stadium. One Fox has cemented his place in head coach Marti Cifuentes' plans and is sure to start: Ben Nelson.

How Ben Nelson steadily convinced Marti Cifuentes of his definite quality and made himself undroppable at Leicester City

Last season Nelson was on loan at Oxford United. The spell at Kassam Stadium was very successful; the centre back helped the Oxfordshire side stay up.

This term, many Foxes fans expected, and lobbied for, Nelson's inclusion in Cifuentes' starting lineup. I too was among them. Unfortunately an inconsistent League Cup display at Huddersfield Town arguably cost him a more involved role early on.

The Catalonian in charge on Filbert Way seemed less trusting after that match. A brief injury and favoured defensive teammates kept Nelson sidelined subsequent. But when the England Under-20s international was offered his next opportunity - he grasped it with both feet!

That particular fixture was against Middlesbrough. Nelson consequently impressed enough not to lose his place when fit since:

"He was unlucky with injuries here and there and the team at the beginning of the season was in a good trend, so it was not easy for him to jump into the starting 11. He has been patient and working well. For me, what is important is that there will be moments in their career that are not easy, and that’s part of their growth, the way they cope with this. I’m a big believer in growing through adversity. In football and in life, not everything goes your way. "
