Leicester City remain stuck in the Championship relegation zone, with only seven games left of the regular season to save their skin.
On another day, the Foxes might have returned to the King Power, after their excursion to Vicarage Road, with all three points in hand.
Unfortunately, Patson Daka had other ideas from the penalty spot, as his unconvincing spot-kick was saved by Egil Selvik, meaning the final scoreline read 0-0 on their disappointing travels to Watford.
It wasn't just Daka to blame, though, for a frustrating attacking display, as Gary Rowett's men squandered a weighty four big chances, when amassing 15 shots in total at the Hornets' goal.
Thankfully, for as much as the attacking display left a lot to be desired, the defensive display was strong and robust throughout.
Indeed, the standout performer - arguably - at the back was Caleb Okoli, as the Italian titan won a brave eight duels to protect a rare clean sheet for Leicester on the road.
Rowett would note that the draw was a little "disheartening" to take, after Daka's penalty horror show.
But, he will surely be pleased with the defensive doggedness, considering the Foxes folded to Queens Park Rangers 3-1, in the match, just before this spirited away trip.
While Okoli would garner a lot of the post-match plaudits, and rightly so, the dominant number five went out of his way to praise his centre-back partner for the day in Jamaal Lascelles at the full-time whistle, with the former Newcastle United defender's experience potentially key in more attritional contests to come, after the international break concludes.
Okoli's complimentary words about Lascelles
Lascelles wouldn't be able to last the full 90 minutes at Vicarage Road, as Ben Nelson - who links up with the England U21s over the break - came on in the dying stages of the goalless affair.
Still, regardless of fatigue seeping in towards the end, it was an inspired choice by Rowett to throw Lascelles into the first-team spotlight, for only his second start of the season.
Calm with the ball at his feet, as seen in his 90% pass accuracy, the injury-prone colossus also rivalled Okoli in the duels won department, when heroically winning six of his eight aerial duels.
There were no signs of cobwebs coming off the ageing 32-year-old, as he attempts to now solidify himself as one of Rowett's trusty centre-back options, for the rest of the wearying season to come.
His presence has been extremely beneificial to Okoli, ever since he made the switch from St James' Park to the King Power in January, with the former Atalanta warrior extremely complimentary about his seasoned teammate, when quizzed on his role in the team.
Okoli glowingly said: "He’s such a wonderful player with such experience.
I can only learn from him and I’m learning a lot in these last weeks being around him. We’re all happy to have him here. He’s a great player."
With 104 Championship games under his belt, alongside a further 177 Premier League games, Lascelles won't be fazed one bit by the relegation fight currently unfolding.
This sense of calm, and bite, clearly rubbed off on Okoli at Vicarage Road, with the Italian, and the Derby-born veteran, looking as if they could form an unlikely partnership now that works a treat, in shutting out opponents during some tiresome clashes at the foot of the league.
