Harry Souttar's tenure at Leicester City began with high hopes when he arrived from Stoke City for £15 million in 2023. The towering 6 foot 6 centre-back eventually found game time hard to come by under Enzo Maresca, featuring just four times as Leicester won the 2023–24 Championship title.
Souttar joined Sheffield United on loan for the following season. After 22 appearances for the Blades, a ruptured Achilles tendon on Boxing Day against Burnley cut his season short, returning to Leicester to continue recovery having made only 16 appearances in total for the club.
Overall, the 27-year-old's career has been one of promise frequently interrupted by injury. He started at Dundee United before moving to Stoke City in 2016, developing during loan spells at Ross County and Fleetwood Town. The lofty footballer's standout 2022 World Cup performances helped drew the Foxes' attention, but despite his clear aerial dominance and composure, serious knee and then Achilles issues repeatedly stalled his progress, limiting his Premier League opportunities and restricting his impact. Now in his prime, Souttar remains a presence for the Aussies, having established himself as a national team regular, but his club career has never quite regained the momentum he showed before his first major injury, leaving him with significant potential yet to fully realise.

Ultimately Souttar's value soared after further commanding performances for the Socceroos at the 2026 World Cup, prompting Leicester to demand around £12m or so to prise him away. Now, following a successful loan spell cut short by injury, United are pushing to re-sign him.

Chris Wilder's side already reportedly tabled rejected bids before the credible John Percy has revealed an improved £10m offer plus add-ons is "imminent". Which potentially matching LCFC's stated valuation and reflecting the Yorkshire team's long-standing admiration for a player who wants out of King Power Stadium; his brother John may be his actual replacement on Filbert Way.
