This coming transfer window is going to be harder to predict and analyse than previous years during the King Power ownership era. First of all, Leicester City may not have anything to spend; fans have gotten used to that unacceptable situation. Free transfers and loans will likely be the main ports of call once more.

Furthermore, the majority of higher-paid Foxes will exit - and good riddance to most of them! As a matter of fact, and contradicting the opening - maybe predicting LCFC's summer will actually be easier than initially imagined.

Nevertheless, this outlet has published many lists of City players who are expected to depart Filbert Way when the current season ends. But now potential incoming footballers are beginning to be suggested, touted and linked with a move to LE2.

Emerging from the French landscape of Ligue 1, Bamba Dieng has surfaced as a possible 'primary target' for the impending Foxes rebuild. The Senegal international, currently plying his trade at FC Lorient, represents the archetypal high-upside acquisition that Leicester's constrained recruitment department must now prioritise.

Leicester City potentially eye Bamba Dieng

Speculation regarding the 26-year-old forward has intensified as his contractual situation in France remains shrouded in ambiguity, with reports suggesting a cut-price deal or even a free transfer could be brokered. Dieng, a versatile and explosive marksman who first garnered acclaim at Marseille, arguably possesses the physical profile to thrive in the English pyramid.

"Lorient sporting director Laurent Koscienly has signalled his intent at tying reported Pompey target Bamba Dieng to a new deal."

However, Leicester reportedly face stiff competition for his signature. The likes of Blackburn Rovers, Portsmouth and Oxford United are all reportedly circling the striker.

"Football Insider's Pete O'Rourke suggested John Mousinho’s men were in pursuit of Dieng alongside Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers as well as relegated duo Oxford United and Leicester City."

For a club mired in financial purgatory, securing a player of Dieng's pedigree would be a rare masterstroke. Yet the hierarchy must act with uncharacteristic decisiveness to outmanoeuvre their domestic rivals and secure a much-needed focal point for the new era as a new deal is ostensibly sought.
