Leicester City are exploring a potentially sensational move to bring Mads Hermansen back to LE2. This suggestion emerges just months after his £20million departure to Premier League side West Ham United. The Danish shot-stopper has found life difficult in the capital. Although he was a vital cog in the Foxes' English Football League Championship title-winning machine under Enzo Maresca; who is also said to be on the LCFC radar once more.

"..the 25-year-old could be heading back to Leicester for the rest of the season, although other Championship clubs are also keen."

After starting the first four matches of the Premier League campaign and conceding eleven goals, Hermansen was displaced by the inconsistent Alphonse Areola and has struggled to reclaim his spot under Nuno Espirito Santo. To be fair, the Dane was rightfully replaced after some unconfident displays. Yet he possesses much class.

Leicester City history

Hermansen is a figure well-known to the Blue Army, having kept 13 clean sheets during the 2023/24 promotion campaign. His history with the King Power organisation is one of reliability and technical proficiency, particularly with his feet. These abilities originally made him a standout in Maresca's City system.

While the goalie also faced Leicester as an opponent during his early career at Brøndby whilst competing in European competition. His Leicester form and familiarity with the Filbert Way environment makes him an attractive late-window option.

Likelihood of return transfer amid Jakub Stolarczyk monopoly

Jakub Stolarczyk occupies Leicester's No.1 spot at the moment. Yet questions remain regarding his consistency with the team battling to stabilize their campaign. Hermansen is widely regarded as the superior 'keeper. He is more solid and complete; boasting superior distribution and top-flight experience.

A loan deal appears realistic as the transfer deadline approaches; particularly with Hermansen desperate for minutes to secure his place in Denmark's World Cup squad.

Given the Hammer's proven pedigree at C'ship level, he would almost certainly immediately supplant Stolarczyk upon hypothetical arrival. Though the Pole initially appeared a competent successor.
