Jamie Vardy hasn't been a rip-roaring success at his new club, Cremonese, ever since bringing his long-standing association with Leicester City to an end.

Indeed, the potent Englishman hasn't quite been at the races in his new Serie A location, with only five goals powered home from 25 appearances.

Still, nothing will ever take the shine off his ridiculous King Power stay, with a staggering 200 goals put away by a striker who was gracing non-league pitches, before Leicester gave him a chance.

Vardy will always be a club legend

Leicester have desperately missed Vardy's firepower this season, with both Patson Daka and Jordan Ayew putting in far too many unconvincing and wasteful displays, as Gary Rowett's main threats up top.

Daka and Ayew just don't strike fear into Championship defences, with only a weak 11 goals combined this season.

When Vardy was plying his trade in Leicestershire, on the other hand, defences would be scared stiff facing the poacher, with a ridiculous 145 Premier League goals next to his name, alongside 38 strikes from 98 second-tier outings.

As Claudio Ranieri once stated, the one-time Premier League winner just had a knack for always finding "the way to goal" during crunch moments of contests.

There has been tentative talk that Vardy could return to his beloved home in the off-season, but this does feel far-fetched.

Seeking out a brand-new striker, who can lead the line with Vardy-like venom, is a must though.

But, it does appear as if Leicester will be unsuccessful in their advances to try and win this lethal EFL marksman, too, as new parties have come forward in the race to land his coveted services.

Leicester could be unsuccessful trying to sign this star

It had been previously reported that Leicester were eyeing up a move for powerful Plymouth Argyle attacker Lorent Tolaj, as a summer rebuild is on the cards.

With 21 goals under his belt this season for the Pilgrims, it's not a great surprise that Leicester were noted as being keen, with a Vardy-style capture potentially on the horizon, as another lethal lower league finisher joined the Foxes ranks.

Unfortunately, the Swiss menace's red-hot form has also made him a target for both Derby County and Millwall, as per Football Insider, with Leicester unable to compete with either the Rams or Alex Neil's men in the transfer department, with both clubs guaranteed to be in the second tier next season.

The Lions could even be in the Premier League next campaign, with the spending power of the teams likely more hefty, too, than the battered and bruised Foxes, who are still in the depths of a crisis.

With Celtic another club reportedly interested in the breakout Argyle sensation, Leicester's pursuit of the 24-year-old striker is surely dead in the water, already.

It's a big shame, as he could have been Leicester's next version of Vardy, with Tolaj 50 career goals and down, across a career that started in non-league, like the Englishman's humble roots.

Leicester will just likely need to pursue more realistic targets, with their League One status not making them the most attractive club to join.
