Leicester City manager Russell Martin believed his men deserved something from their English Football League Cup Second Round game against Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Tuesday evening. The Foxes were not favourites for the cup match - not by a long chalk!
However, for once the struggling East Midlanders gave a good account of themselves versus a Premier League side away from home. The visitors were arguably the better team in the first half, yet the Tractor Boys' quality shone through as the fixture wore down.
3-1 was the final score after Bade Aluko, one of LCFC's exceptional young defensive players, regained parity for City. Nevertheless, a great finish along with a wonder-goal, both from Marcelino Nunez, won the game for the home side.

As well as Aluko, several other Leicester new boys and youngsters are attempting to combine to actually make a go of this season. Unfortunately, The King Power International Group, who own and still sadly operate Leicester, have placed everyone in the squad up for sale.
This means a core group of Sammy Braybrooke, Louis Page, Jayden Joseph and Will Alves, who could achieve something special this campaign, may not even be at the LE2 club for long. This youthful crop could be the next special collective as with the David Nugent era, or the Jamie Vardy and Andy King tenures and other significant times on Filbert Way.
These specific young talents have all the drive and skill to grow into club legends, or at least aid promotion; Martin should certainly give them the time and trust to develop together. Yet with every footballer listed for transfer, that precious potential risks being dismantled before it ever truly takes flight.
