Leicester City fans are, understandably, in a bit of a daze at present. Who wouldn't be!? The sharp descent has taken a toll; realisation will soon automatically kick in due to the perceived quality of managers linked with the top Foxes job. Once one of these so-called lesser calibre gaffers arrives, LCFC's situation will truly sink in for the Blue Army.

'Expectations must be lowered', is a common phrase coming out of Leicestershire at the moment, unfortunately. The honeymoon is over on Filbert Way - seriously!

Indeed, Gary Rowett wasn't particularly a name for Leicester fans to get excited about. Nor was the former Fox wanted as a boss at King Power Stadium, in general. With all due respect and nonsense adhered to - Rowett's appointment was an indication of how low Leicester have stooped.

Gary Rowett out and Darren Ferguson in at Leicester City?

But talkSPORT expect the former Millwall, Oxford United and Stoke City head coach to depart LCFC soon enough, his brief and largely uninspiring tenure concluding with the club's surrender to the grim realities of League One. Rowett won't be fondly remembered by the majority at Leicester.

The fall from the grace of Premier League prestige to the arduous trenches of the third tier is a bitter pill; arguably made more acerbic by the names now surfacing in the managerial ether. Darren Ferguson, son of legendary Manchester United icon Sir Alex, is atop bookmakers' forecasts right now.

"Darren Ferguson, 54, is claimed to be open to taking up the spot in the hot seat."

Unsurprisingly, the ex-Peterborough United man is apparently interested in coming to City, according to a report. While Ferguson possesses a commendable record as a promotion specialist within the lower echelons of the English pyramid, his presence as a frontrunner serves as a stark, unvarnished reminder of the outfit's current, unglamorous status.

However, City could probably do worse than Ferguson, unbelievably! Posh supporter and FoL writer Kelan Sarson believes the 54-year-old could be better than preconceived notions dictate.
