At long last, if reports and seeming photographic evidence are to be trusted, Leicester City are finally set to grant their loyal Blue Army fan base their long-held wish by bringing in a new striker. Some fans were beginning to think the squad would be striker-less by the time the transfer window ended.

With Patson Daka and Jordan Ayew having departed, a major void was left at King Power Stadium, one that might only have been filled temporarily by utility players like Liam Cullen and Jake Evans. That was before top prospect Evans joined Cheltenham Town on a season-long loan after signing a new three-year LCFC deal.

There was a possibility that out of position men like Stephy Mavididi or Bobby De Cordova-Reid might have perhaps been deployed as makeshift strikers, or even in a false nine role. Though Decordova-Reid failed to impress in his EFL Cup audition ahead of the upcoming English Football League One season starting.

Manager Russell Martin actually needs two centre forwards: a first-choice and a backup. Unfortunately the youth setup has not yet produced anyone with the age, height, physical presence or experience to fill these spots; Kirsten Otchere could have been an option, but he too was sent out temporarily because he is clearly not yet considered ready to lead the line.

Admir Bristrić to Leicester City

The Foxes have reportedly pursued multiple strikers all summer, only to see Bristol City beat them to two targets by signing both Dom Ballard and Lorent Tolaj to strengthen their own Championship squad. This narrowed Leicester's options, but it now appears that Admir Bristrić (who starred on loan in the Slovenian league last season) is the player they have settled on to lead their attack for the new campaign.

As a Bosnia and Herzegovina U21 international, Bristrić boasts strong pedigree and was pretty prolific in his previous loan spell. Sadly visa issues seemingly slowed the deal down, but a social media photo now shows him at the Seagrave training ground, presumably to complete his medical, sign his contract and take part in media duties.

Leicester Mercury claim the powerful striker is on the verge of joining the club and that he is precisely the kind of player they have required all along. The 23-year-old is a physical goalscorer with apparently competent hold-up play. He excels in the box, uses his strength effectively and is said to link play well, which are ideal attributes for spearhead the Leicestershire side's front line.
