No regret at Leicester as Wilder makes wild revelations

It appears that current Sheffield United head coach Chris Wilder would have rather been at King Power Stadium for the current campaign than Bramall Lane. Before Blades supporters get upset - I'm only going by the bombshells that he himself dropped in his pre-Foxes press conference. And reading a into it bit, naturally.

To be fair to the man who pined for a great vocation in Leicestershire (don't we all!?), he's actually been embarrassed by SUFC on numerous occasions. But that love for his boyhood club (amazingly and impressively, Wilder started "on the terraces" before playing for as well as managing his side) saw him ignore previous clashes with the Sheffield outfit's powers-that-be and return to United.

How was Wilder shown up and arguably badly treated by the South Yorkshire club? Well, he was hired on three occasions by 'his team', and subsequent sacked twice even after reaching the Premier League promised land. Another dismissal is surely pencilled in for some stage, like a confirmed relegation at this season's culmination or in another year to come. Please excuse my cynicism as we detail, opine and conclude on the interesting gaffer's words on the Foxes.

One would suspect that Leicester City hold no Chris Wilder regret amid startling statements

I do respect Wilder as a boss: he has that 'Nigel Pearson demeanour' and effectiveness, I'd argue. Although I didn't want the former on Filbert Way, exactly. The supposed style of a Marti Cifuentes (or the better example of Enzo Maresca) is preferable to me.

Yet it hasn't worked at LCFC for the sure-to-be-sacked Cifuentes. But the Blades only jumped up to the dizzying heights of 19th position (from 22nd) following their demoralising 3-2 victory at City on Saturday afternoon.

Unless chairman Aiyawatt (Khun Top) Srivaddhanaprabha invests correctly, any team manager will unfortunately, probably continue to fail. I doubt Wilder would have got the unpalatable Foxes squad organised.

"I spoke to Leicester City in the summer and was impressed with what they had to say," Wilder told Sheffield United's official website.

"At the time, I was out of work, so disappointed not to get that gig, but you move on, and I enjoyed the process and the interview process.

"I was disappointed not to get the job because I'd like to think it would be one that would've worked well for myself and the coaches."

Though the 58-year-old's admission of a desire to join was surprising! Nevertheless, United remain a more widely followed and bigger club than many understand.

"I know a lot about the club over a number of years, know about the players, worked with Luke Thomas, Hamza, Harry Souttar, and they had a very positive view on the club.

"What Enzo [Maresca] did as well, we share the same agent.

"It's a big club and I wanted to get back in to work and I thought I could've done a decent job for them, but it's worked out fabulously for me to be back at my club."
