Leicester City have now joined an exclusive list of clubs after suffering relegation to League One.

Indeed, the Foxes are now linked arm-in-arm with the likes of Luton Town and Sunderland, in being yet another historic club to have suffered the horrible fate of back-to-back relegations from the Premier League to the third tier.

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Swindon Town have also fallen victim to this disastrous outcome, in the past, with more recent examples not giving the Foxes much hope that they'll immediately return to the Championship next season.

Leicester could struggle to bounce back

In both the examples of the Hatters and the Black Cats, there was no immediate joyous return, with Luton still in with a shout of the League One playoffs this campaign, but it's hardly been a walk in the park.

Instead, it has been a slog returning to the pits of League One, with 14 defeats next to their name, for a team who once gave Mikel Arteta's Arsenal a high-octane game in the Premier League.

Likewise, Sunderland would have to endure three successive seasons in the third tier, before they mounted their return to the Premier League, with Leicester fans - who are already disgruntled - no doubt sick at the thought of their side being stuck in the wilderness for three straight campaigns.

They may have to dampen their expectations that they could walk League One at the first time of trying, with the club's insecure financial status a real worry, as well.

Despite all this working against them, outspoken pundit Simon Jordan is backing Leicester to move straight back up to the Championship at the earliest possible opportunity, when discussing the Midlands side's rapid fall from grace on TalkSPORT.

Jordan's bold take on Leicester's relegation

The former Crystal Palace chairman has never been one to mince his words, when speaking on TalkSPORT.

He was his usual forthright self when discussing Leicester's relegation, just a day on from the Hull City draw, with the media personality declaring that the Foxes will come back "stronger" with controversial owner Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha set to stick by the club.

He said: "It's a version of leadership, isn't it? It's taking responsibility, suggesting that they're going to fix the problems that you would've preferred to be fixed whilst in the Championship, the fact they're in the Championship's bad enough but now they're in League One.

"They'll go into League One and probably come back quite strong, because they've got the budget and the finances to be able to do so, even though there's a discussion about how they're going to re-finance, what they're going to sell and how the banks won't touch them with a rotten stick."

Noting further that this same predicament has happened with the likes of Leeds United, who are now comfortable in the top-flight, there is a compelling argument to be had that falling into such a miserable hole could be what kickstarts a monumental rebuild of the club.

Whoever does take to the field for Leicester next season will certainly have to display more fight, grit, and quality than Gary Rowett's current troops have, with League One also having the reputation for swallowing sleeping giants whole.
