Leicester City have made a decision on whether they'd like to continue with the current head coach or not, and the verdict is chillingly definitive. In the wake of a catastrophic descent into the third tier (just a decade after a mythical Premier League triumph), the hierarchy have reportedly opted for a clean break.
Gary Rowett, recruited as a seasonal talisman to douse the flames of a failing campaign, proved to be less of a firefighter and more of a flame enabler. Under his brief, beleaguered stewardship, the sparks of mediocrity grew into an uncontainable conflagration that ultimately consumed the LE2 club's EFL Championship status.
In the end, Rowett made more errors than expected, appearing passive and wholly cliché in his tactics and post-match post-mortems whilst remaining lost during the heat of battle. His tenure was defined by an alarming lack of understanding; a once-proud outfit looked rudderless, drifting toward the abyss with a staggering lack of urgency.
To be fair, inheriting a rather rotten roster (bloated by high wages and stripped of its competitive soul) doesn't help one bit! However, the Blue Army could have expected much more from a former Fox who saved Oxford United from the drop recently and theoretically understood the Foxes DNA.

Nevertheless, it appears that the 52-year-old won't be at King Power Stadium next season. While few will rejoice at that update from talkSPORT, given the somber reality of League One football, there will not be many that pine for Rowett's return either.

The gaffer's impending departure marks the end of a dismal chapter where pragmatism failed and inspiration was absent.
