Can Edouard and Vardy play together at Leicester?

Leicester City must begin picking up victories in the Premier League. So far the east Midlands club have only won two League Cup fixtures under manager Steve Cooper. Cooper is desperate for a three pointer in the English top-flight, as long as it is in accord with his match plan. The former Nottingham Forest boss is reluctant to alter his ways, which reminds us of Ex-Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers. If Cooper does change his formation to a more attacking style, which players may come in and how would the Foxes set-up? Could loanee striker Odsonne Edouard and LCFC icon Jamie Vardy play as a pairing together for the Foxes? Let's see.

How it's gone

Leicester are currently 17th in the Premier League with three points. A trio of draws, two well-earned, gave them a the light foundation; they have lost three matches. City have actually notched eight goals in that time, which isn't too bad. Though the King Power side's goal difference is -4 at present.

How the Foxes could line-up with both Odsonne Edouard and Jamie Vardy in the same starting XI

We know Vardy was arguably most effective when in a duo, if you can recall back to the fabled Shinji Okazaki era. Okazaki often occupied opposition defences by being an elite nuisance. This alleviated Vardy's pressing and defensive responsibilities, allowing the retired England international to prey on opposing defenders. The results were magnificent and, of course, unprecedented. The system led to the Premier League triumph in a major way, along with successful European runs.

Maybe the Leicester legend would be able to do this again with less effort, stress and fewer team burdens if the Frenchman was introduced from the start. Another theory of mine regarding potentially relegation threatened sides whom are not quite scoring enough, is to attack. If clean sheets just don't occur, and in the Leicestershire outfit's case, it is generally and seemingly easier to add further proven fire power than to fix a porous back line.

So, how would you fit Edouard in? If you've read my stuff, you'll be well aware that I am not an advocate of fielding two defensive midfielders. Unless you're like Real Madrid or something, it's pessimistic! So, I'd remove one of Oliver Skipp or Harry Winks, adding the loaned Crystal Palace man to the team in a flexible 4-4-1-1 accordingly:

Mads Hermansen; James Justin, Wout Faes, Jannik Vestergaard, Ricardo Pereira; Winks, Wilfred Ndidi; Facundo Buonanotte, Stephy Mavididi; Edouard, Vardy.
