Latest points deduction worry; eminent ex-PL player linked; former Leicester star's irony
Foxes of Leicester is back covering three Leicester City media stories. First of all, FoL look at the latest worry concerning the potential points deductions. The east Midlands side are reportedly, sadly, at risk of receiving almost double the record Premier League penalising. Meanwhile an eminent ex-Manchester United player has been linked with the Foxes as the Blue Army await news of manager Enzo Maresca’s impending exit. And, in addition to those topics, we report on a former LCFC star weighing in on the Italian's imminent departure without a hint of irony or self-awareness.
James Maddison jumped ship at the worst time for Leicester City and now accuses another person of doing the same - how strange, but predictably 'Madders'
Here at FoL we don't usually dwell or comment much on former Foxes. Although, personally I like to point out hypocrisy, self-promotion and cynicism in the game. So check this one out, it's a gem!
Basically, Maddison - who is without doubt one of the most gifted one-time LCFC midfielders we've ever seen - was asked about Maresca leaving Leicester. And the Tottenham Hotspur No.10's response was truly a peach, considering he went straight through the door rather than slog it out in the Championship.
I actually like Madders, he's an ultra-talented footballer who appears not to take his serious job too seriously. Yet there have always been devious, presumptuous and vacuous elements to his character on and off the pitch. Those are ironically aspects which contribute to him being world-class. Anyway, what are his views on current happenings at King Power Stadium?
"What will be will be. Got to be respectful to Leicester. Leicester's a big club as well, they're back in the Premier League now so I don’t think any manager would want to be jumping straight from that ship [ironic glance not inserted here]."
- James Maddison
Famous footballer rumoured to be fancied by Foxes
If Maresca does eventually go, there will be a major appointment to make on Filbert Way. There are some decent candidates, as I see it. Although, it is very difficult to please everyone with any nomination.
One surprise name connected with a chance of taking over at LCFC, is Ruud van Nistelrooy. The Man United legend was an immense striker who was second to none. He was last with PSV Eindhoven as a gaffer. Apparently, van Nistelrooy is 'in the frame' at Leicester. We shall see if this unlikely installation occurs.
Further punishment hearsay is a concern at the King Power
Unfortunately for Leicester, there is a transfer embargo in place at the moment. There could also be a worse fate than that in store for the Leicestershire outfit. Apparently, a six-to-15 point deduction may transpire when the 2024/25 EPL begins:
"they could also be the latest club to be hit with a sizeable points deduction for breaching financial rules.
The Telegraph’s sources have estimated the club’s punishment could be anything between six to 15 points.
In turn, Leicester could face a larger deduction than the Premier League record nine points Portsmouth were docked back in 2009, which left them rooted at the bottom of the table.
In March, Leicester were charged with breaching the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules over a three year period ending in 2022-23."
