Leicester CLOSE to signings with Skipp ready to start vs Fulham
Leicester City are close to making some more signings this summer, according to manager Steve Cooper. The Welshman recently conducted a pre-match press conference in the build up to the Foxes' trip to west London to face Fulham. During the back and forth, the former Nottingham Forest head coach was asked about any pending transfers at King Power Stadium. The east Midlands side are heavily linked with the potential addition of Jordan Ayew from Crystal Palace, another English capital team.
In addition to this likely credible gossip, we also learn if Oliver Skipp is likely to start or play some part versus the Cottagers. Will the versatile ex-Tottenham midfielder be granted his Leicester debut? The remaining fitness updates are, of course, addressed too.
Potential signings on the Filbert Way horizon
Leicester supporters will undoubtedly be hoping for even more acquisitions at the cash-strapped Premier League club. Ayew is the latest player set to join LCFC; a winger who can - apparently - play as a striker. From what I've seen over the years, I am pretty unconvinced that he is capable of starting EPL matches as the main centre forward.
Hopefully one or two further fresh faces will emerge through the door before the final 2024 transfer window shuts. With any luck, these hypothetical signings will be more inspired than the Palace man. But, in fairness to Ayew, I guess judgement should be reserved for on-field performances. He does admittedly add required depth in the forward department.
Anyway, apologies for the digression. What did Cooper divulge regarding possible business? Essentially the Leicester gaffer was coy, as is typical in these situations for many reasons:
"I think we’re close, but we’ve been closer than we feel today. We’re really keen to get deals over the line."

A look ahead to Fulham vs Leicester City with injury news
For some time now, Marco Silva has been assembling and developing a fine squad at the Cottage. You have to hand it to them, especially looking in as a Leicester fan. Saturday's fixture is a tougher one than in recent years.
Nevertheless, the LCFC faithful still want the win, as does the side. Is a victory realistic? Three points appear an unlikely outcome; a draw is probably the best to wish for. Yet with stars such as Jamie Vardy, Abdul Fatawu and Facundo Buonanotte - anything is possible.
Vardy is fit for selection, judging by Cooper's comments to media. The latter offered information on new signing Skipp, as well as general fitness. The boss's statement is below:
"The same. No changes. It was the first game of the season and there are still a lot of lads getting up to speed fitness-wise. There’s fatigue, but nothing else fortunately.
He (Skipp) is definitely available. It’s great that he’s here. If you bring players in, you want them to be pushing for places. Everybody that’s fit will be ready for selection if required."
