Leicester competing for €40m-valued Serie A star and PL midfielder
Leicester City are apparently competing in a two-way battle with Serie A club Roma in order to sign a €40 million-valued star forward. Is Juventus's Matias Soule ready to be a Fox? In addition to going for the Argentine, the east Midlanders are also said to be in the chase for another potential acquisition.
Supposedly, Tottenham Hotspur do not want Oliver Skipp anymore, and the hard-working midfielder certainly fits LCFC's recruitment profile. Is Skipp heading to Leicestershire along with Soule? And what does this likely mean for City's Matt O’Riley interest?
Will LCFC capture latest wanted man?
As I mentioned in the introduction, Skipp appears to be a very feasible and rather appropriate Leicester target. To be honest, I have watched quite a bit of the midfield man over recent years and consider him underrated. He is, as I see it, a fairly ideal and realistic Foxes signing.
A few LCFC footballers secured from so-called big six sides over the years have done well. Think Harry Winks, for instance, a similar professional from the exact same club. While Skipp is arguably more of a No.8 than No.6, their styles are obviously comparable.
The transfers would be too, with both requesting or demanding more minutes otherwise prospectively leaving. Is Skipp ultimately needed? He'd definitely add quality, depth and experience to the department for the right price. So what does speculation state?:
"Leicester City are plotting a move for Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp, sources have told Football Insider.
Spurs could be open to allowing the central midfielder to leave the club this summer despite the academy graduate being a fan favourite and a key member of their squad.
Leicester are in the market for a central midfielder this summer following Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s move to Chelsea.
The Foxes are keen to sign a player who is proven in the Premier League and can instantly be put into the starting lineup."
Will Leicester City now ease away from Matt O’Riley pursuit?
Like I said before, Skipp is slightly closer to the Winks holding role than he is, say, former Fox James Maddison. Whereas, characteristically, Matt O’Riley is more akin to Maddison when considering output via goals and assists.
Though the current Spurs star is fielded as a No.10, while O’Riley often plays in centre-mid. This means, hypothetically, if the latter and Skipp were both acquired they would probably be competing for one spot. With Wilfred Ndidi re-signed, signing the aforementioned pair is arguably unlikely.
Leicester City remain in the race for Matias Soule - reports
Although it was previously claimed that Roma had won the chase to sign Soule of Juve, there are counter claims. However, suggestions are that the 21-year-old would prefer to sign for his Italian admirers.
Will Soule stay in Serie A? Well, It's hard to tell, especially with the Foxes' attention possibly turning to Alexis Saelemaekers. Yet the King Power team have ostensibly made a €35m offer (£29.5m approximately) including €5m in add-ons to secure the €40m-rated winger.
