A potential exit route for an unwanted Leicester City player has been shut. Meanwhile the east Midlands club are apparently eyeing the signing of a striker playing in Russia. Foxes of Leicester bring you the most recent LCFC speculation, news and views as the first Foxes friendly is announced for July.

Leicester City consider free transfer

Even when in the offseason, as we are now, there is always a lot for Leicester's recruitment department, manager and director of football to tend to. After pending decisions there are certain contracts to be negotiated, others to allowed to expire, and possibly one or two to terminate. Such is the nature of the game.

Unfortunately, at least one or more stars are expected to exit the King Power club this summer. Allowing prominent players to leave for huge transfer sums is a strategy LCFC have previously employed in preseason in order to make a profit. In this instance, prospectively selling their best assets will be an imposed measure due to Premier League Financial Fair Play (now referred to as PSRs) issues.

However, the Foxes shall still have an eye out for some good value established talent, as well as any up-and-coming gems for the renowned team to polish. According to Football Insider sources, Leicester have 'joined the race' to capture Mohamed Konate of Russian Premier Liga outfit Akhmat Grozn.

Konate's agreement with the Russians is no longer valid, and he will leave for pastures new. The Burkina Faso international made 12 goal contributions during the 2023/24 campaign. Due to aforementioned finance problems, a free signing - or five - would be ideal at the King Power. City reportedly have Brest and Lyon as rivals for Konate's signature.

Preseason practice match organised

Excitement builds every year without fail when the initial pre-season fixture is announced for any side. City stars and Under-21s starlets will play local team Coalville Town to start with; the friendly will take place on Tuesday, July 23. More outings will be pencilled in for the Foxes and then surely announced very soon.

Daniel Iversen left in wilderness because Stoke decided to sign other stopper instead

Mainly due to the prowess and stability of Mads Hermansen, you would be excused for not realising that Leicester's goalkeeping department was in a mess for the first half of the previous term. You see, City failed to offload Danny Ward or Daniel Iversen in 2023 so had five senior 'keepers on their books to begin with. Now there's an update on the latter:

"It seems like Daniel Iversen will have to find another route out of the King Power Stadium after Stoke opted to sign his old Leicester City Under-21 team-mate Viktor Johansson instead. Iversen was on loan with the Potters for the second half of this season, but a return to the bet365 Stadium seems unlikely now they’ve signed a new number one."
