Former Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha is undoubtedly a massively talented and impactful elite winger. His skills are undeniable, he is a goal-threat and a wily creator for others. However, Zaha is an absolute wildcard when it comes to the field of play. You occasionally get everything on the pitch from the Ivory Coast international - alternatively, managers receive a whole lot of nothing! Is this a wise move for Leicester City? The addition would either be game-changing or a mess for the Foxes, that's for sure.

Meanwhile a recently departed LCFC gaffer did the east Midlands club no favours whatsoever by testing Jamie Vardy's resolve at King Power Stadium.

It was proven that Dean Smith was the wrong choice for Leicester City - and he's just compounded that fact

Smith, now the chief at Major League Soccer outfit Charlotte FC, was an overall uninspiring, essentially lazy and ultimately bad appointment at Leicester. I'm sure most of the Blue Army will agree with me there. There is not much else to say on the situation, following a fairly muted Premier League relegation in 2022/23.

But if Smith would have successfully tempted Vardy to the United States when the Foxes seemingly most need him, the ex-Aston Villa boss would have received a lot of stick from City supporters. The former supposedly asked if the retired England striker would be interested in going to Charlotte this summer.

Thankfully that hypothetical reunion never occurred, because LCFC desperately require a fully firing centre forward. That is arguably the most important and missing element ahead of a surely difficult campaign to come. However, the Leicestershire side's talisman is injured at the moment so can therefore do little to help preparations.

Leicester City linked with Wilfried Zaha - opinion on transfer rumour

Currently plying his trade in Turkey's Super Lig with famous club Galatasaray, Zaha is not technically in football's wilderness exactly. Although many footballing observers would opine that he's taken the easy route.

At least he didn't join the Saudi Pro League, which has been referred to as somewhat of a footballing graveyard. Though, the one-time Manchester United starlet is now said to be eager a move back to England's top-flight. 'Desperate', in fact.

Leicester are apparently 'active' in their pursuit of the mercurial yet gifted footballer. Palace, his old team, and LCFC have reportedly held discussions with Zaha's representatives over a prospective switch to the EPL. Wages may be the deciding factor here - but he's worth a punt!
