Queens Park Rangers are technically set to get one over on Championship rivals Leicester City. This update comes after friction may have been caused when the Foxes appointed the West Londoners' former manager, the ambitious Marti Cifuentes. We all know City wish to make a few signings, but cannot unless they create some funds of their own. Not to mention ridding themselves of some stupefying salaries at King Power Stadium.
To be fair, the East Midlands outfit have already begun shedding some excess weight; Conor Coady left for his big move (excuse my sarcasm) to Wrexham. Slightly sadder exits materialised as well, with Wilfred Ndidi and Mads Hermansen leaving. Ndidi, because he was a long-serving fan favourite; Hermansen, more due to his fee being far too low.
Now Leicester's Blue Army fan base are expectant. We want some new faces at the club - and I don't mean another 38-year-old goalkeeper who signs for free as an understudy. No, we desire some quality; the type of talent that makes this season's objective a foregone conclusion. The sort of players who could even hack it in the Premier League! Yet City have seemingly lost out to the Rs for one of those targets.
Queens Park Rangers likely to gazump Leicester City by acquiring Richard Kone after Foxes installed ex-Rs manager Marti Cifuentes
The profile of footballer the King Power club want is an out-and-out striker. Yep, just like Jamie Vardy! One man who is making his way up the leagues is Wycombe Wanderers' Kone. City have been linked for a while there.
"An update from transfer specialist Pete O’Rourke on Monday read: “QPR have agreed a fee with Wycombe for striker Richard Kone."London World
Though it appears Kone will be heading to the English capital to play with QPR under French boss Julien Stephan. For around a week, Wanderers were said to be holding out for their valuation to be met. The Chairboys reportedly wanted £5 million.
