Catalonian football head coach Marti Cifuentes took over at Leicester City Football Club on July 15, 2025. That slightly late appointment at King Power Stadium meant that the former Queens Park Rangers gaffer had already missed a couple of Foxes friendly matches of the summer's preseason schedule.
Other factors affected the 43-year-old's introduction in LE2: the East Midlands side hadn't made any outfield signings at that point. Ultimately Cifuentes had to wait almost exactly a month and a half in order for the LCFC hierarchy and recruitment staff to make seemingly sufficient additions.
Though the three adequate loanees were not permanently signed. I'd designate this another explicitly awkward factor for Cifuentes, who won't know which players are leaving at the end of the season. Which makes planning all the more difficult. Let's also face a particularly difficult fact: Aaron Ramsey, Julian Carranza and Jordan James could all respectively be called back to their parent sides at any moment.
There are also many financial insecurities and uncertainties hanging over the Leicestershire outfit at present. So doubt about the role must occasionally creep into Cifuentes' mind, I'm sure. What I am attempting to do here is illustrate that the Sant Cugat del Vallès-born head coach hasn't had an easy ride to begin with. But how do we rate his start at Leicester?
Rating manager Marti Cifuentes' start at Leicester City
Overall, I'm generally pleased with the new boss. He's an honest seeming and flexible man to have in charge. He's knowledgeable as well as keen to learn and succeed.
In regards of what's been produced, City are clearly a work in progress with minimal chance of strengthening in January. Therefore Cifuentes has done well with what he has at his disposal.
I would have expected a striker to be firing by now. And four successive draws, along with First Round League Cup elimination was frustrating. He is also using the right personnel. So, I'd say an 8/10.
