Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) chief Howard Webb is said to have accepted an upcoming meeting with Mark Ashton, chief executive of Ipswich Town. This follows a controversial decision versus ITFC's Premier League relegation rivals Leicester City. The Tractor Boys leader was upset by events in last weekend's Portman Road Stadium encounter and consequently complained about Video Assistant Refereeing.
The incident in question involves a so-called "stonewall penalty" during the game. According to some views, which may be described as slightly partisan, Fox Abdul Fatawu impeded Ipswich man Conor Chaplin. Of course, emerging Foxes cult hero and goalscorer on the day, Jordan Ayew, completed the comeback with a late equaliser.
In addition to examining that story, we see that couple of high profile pundits have agreed that City were lucky. And they expressed these opinions, as well as concerns, in front of LCFC legend and Match of the Day host Gary Lineker. But what did former England and Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart and similarly ex-Man City and Three Lions player Micah Richards claim about the east Midlanders' latest crucial fixture?
Jordan Ayew's Leicester City emergence against the odds
I was certainly not excited, or even particularly pleased, to see that Leicester had invested in Ayew over the summer. I found the transfer to be uninspiring, obvious and cynical. Although at this early stage, it looks as though I was incorrect in this instance.
And, as you've heard me say many times before, I'm always content to be proven wrong if it means positivity for LCFC! However, it is early on in the one-time Crystal Palace attacker's City career. He might just have to take the supersub moniker and run with it in order to fulfil his Foxes promise. But, he's doing alright.
Leicester manager Steve Cooper recently confirmed Ayew's thoughts on that particular matter. Basically, the Ghana international wishes to be involved in the starting lineup - as all professionals do. The Welshman added that he finds it "tough" to leave the forward out of the team.
People seem in agreement over Foxes happening
Richards and Hart were in agreement on MotD when it came to City. In spite of Lineker's jokes, both believe Ipswich deserved a penalty. The retired stopper even said he felt ITFC gaffer Kieran McKenna 'had the right to feel aggrieved'.
And the Ipswich hierarchy was equally disgruntled. Blues exec' Mark Ashton will actually meet ref head Howard Webb for discourse:
"And Ashton is set to meet with Webb to discuss the penalty incident against Leicester: 'The culmination of the interesting conversation with Howard on Saturday night was that we will meet this week at Portman Road to discuss it.'"
