Southampton vs Leicester has served many classics in the past. However, one statistic on the fixture might concern the Foxes.

Leicester City headed into the October international break with mixed feelings. On one hand, they secured their first win of the season against Bournemouth before the break. On the other hand, they've had to wait two weeks to build on the momentum.

Facing Southampton away from home is a brilliant opportunity for Steve Cooper to build on his momentum. Two wins on the bounce would surely keep the "Cooper out" army quiet, at least for another week.

However, there is one statistic heading into this fixture which isn't promising for Leicester fans. That said, it isn't flattering for Southampton fans either.

The last game which Southampton won in the Premier League came against Leicester. This game was on March 4 2023, when Leicester were defeated 1-0 at St Marys Stadium.

Since this match, which was just after the halfway point in the 2022/23 season, Southampton have not won a Premier League game. Returning to the Premier League this season, they have kept their same misfortune from their relegated season.

So, both teams will have different reasons to push for a win this weekend. Leicester want to build some winning momentum, whereas Southampton just need a win in any way possible.

For those who believe in fate in football, the statistic doesn't make for great viewing. Superstitious fans may wish to wear their lucky socks this Saturday, to avoid Southampton making it two wins on the bounce against Leicester in the Premier League.

It is worth noting that while Southampton did the Premier League double over Leicester in the 2022/23 season, Leicester did the Championship double over Southampton last season.

In fact, last season, Leicester dominated Southampton across two matches. At the King Power, the game finished Leicester 5-0 Southampton and at St Marys, it finished Southampton 1-4 Leicester.
