Gary Rowett did turn Leicester City into a tight defensive unit during his brief stint in charge of the relegated side last season.
Only two wins would be secured, as their drop from the Championship was depressingly confirmed, but from his 14 games in charge, only 17 goals would be shipped.
Under Marti Cifuentes, a leaky 48 goals would be surrendered from 31 total clashes, although the Spaniard did leave the King Power behind with 11 victories to his name.
Russell Martin will hope he can collect plenty of wins as Leicester returns to the Championship, with the ex-Southampton boss the clear frontrunner for the job, all while making his team resilient at the back.
Caleb Okoli stood out all season long for the Foxes in defence, with the former Atalanta youngster not fazed by the rough and tumble of the second tier one bit, when chucked into action.
Okoli's encouraging Championship season
The Italian defender would rock up to the King Power during the summer transfer window of 2024 as a promising signing for the Premier League new boys.
He would go on to feature 19 times in the top-flight as the Foxes tasted the bitter pill of relegation, and unfortunately, his second season donning Leicester blue would also conclude with a demotion.
Still, he will feel he performed admirably during times of hardship last campaign, as the number five matured during his second relegation battle on the trot.
Indeed, he would average an imperious 5.2 duels won per Championship clash, while more senior individuals such as Jamaal Lascelles would average a lesser 4.9. Alongside these impressive numbers, he would come away from the troubling season with an encouraging 84% pass average registered.
Okoli will fancy his chances of a move away from Leicester this summer, therefore, as the £12m purchase is a cut above the low reaches of League One, arguably, as he has 51 Serie A appearances under his belt, as well.
He could venture back to the Italian first division this summer, if reports are correct, with a Jamie Vardy-style move on the horizon for the Vicenza-born centre-back.
He could follow in Jamie Vardy's footsteps
It wasn't a shock that Vardy left the building last summer, as Leicester dropped out of the Premier League, with the veteran still a top-flight calibre centre-forward.
His next onward destination would have surprised Leicester fans, though, as he didn't win himself a big move to another English outfit. Instead, he moved to Cremonese, who he managed to bag seven goals for last season in Serie A.
The pain of relegation would, unfortunately, follow him to Lombardy, however, as he searches for another new club, now, at the grand age of 39. Okoli will be eyeing up a return to home pastures himself to line up for a Serie A side, with the 24-year-old having plenty to give an Italian team.
Reports suggest that Fiorentina are keen on snapping up the number five to offer him an escape route from League One.
Bologna and Vardy's soon-to-be ex-employers have also been noted as interested parties, as Okoli assesses what club he'd next like to move to, if a summer switch gets off the ground.
Unlike faces such as Harry Winks, who have a sour reputation amongst Foxes fans right now, Okoli would depart with little to no animosity in the air, as he must do what's best for his fledgling career, and he could be a great success plying his trade back in his native land.
