The Leicester star who would have irked Gary Rowett more than Patson Daka

Gary Rowett wouldn't have been left impressed with this Leicester City star's performance at Sheffield Wednesday.

Leicester City are seriously lacking the killer edge to finish teams off, as they battle against the punishing Championship drop.

Indeed, across their last three frustrating outings in the second tier, Gary Rowett's wasteful men have amassed 50 shots on the opposition goal.

Amazingly, despite peppering the goal of the opponents so frequently, the Foxes failed to beat Watford, Preston North End, and Sheffield Wednesday, with only three goals actually put away, across three unsatisfactory draws.

Pierce Charles did pull off a blinder in the Owls net last time out, as he amazingly made 11 saves to constantly thwart the frustrated away side.

But, Rowett would have still been left vexed by Patson Daka's toothless showing at Hillsborough, as the striker couldn't follow up his brace against Preston, with an invaluable strike against the division's basement outfit.

Daka's wasteful performance at Wednesday

Daka is staring the exit door in the face right now at the King Power, with reports suggesting that he will walk away from the club at the close of the season.

There won't be too much of an outcry for the 27-year-old to stay, as his wildly inconsistent displays up top for Rowett and Co are becoming costly, in their bid to secure survival.

Daka would spurn four openings against Henrik Pedersen's lowly hosts, with only one of his four shots on Charles' goal actually hitting the target.

He did end up assisting Ayew's fierce equaliser, which was a big relief.

But, he remains very much in the bad books for those at Leicester, as his grim penalty miss against Watford still stings, from the middle of March, as a confidence-boosting win would have been secured if he had held his nerve from the spot.

It's a sorry end for a attacker who once cost the Midlands side a whopping £23m, as his poor performances in front of goal, could seal Leicester's relegation fate.

There is a different performer who would have irked Rowett even more than the hot-and-cold Zambian, though, as the star in question offered even less than Daka.

The Leicester star who would have seriously irked Rowett

At the moment, if you were a betting man, you would likely put your money on Leicester heading down, as Rowett remains on just one win from nine in the Foxes dug-out, due to these careless attacking displays.

He will need a lot more from Stephy Mavididi in crunch games to come, as the ex-Arsenal youth product completely failed to get going at Hillsborough even when facing a defence that has regularly been torn to shreds this season, at the very foot of the division.

Only amassing two shots and one successful dribble, the number ten's overall display was just far too lifeless, and casual, as he also gave away possession 18 times in some promising attacking positions.

To give Daka credit, at least he teed up Ayew for that much-needed equaliser, even if he also put in an otherwise unconvincing shift.

It has been a horrible fall from grace for the 27-year-old, who put away 12 goals and collected six assists during the 2023/24 season, when Enzo Maresca and Co. hoisted the Championship title aloft.

Now, they're in the depressing pits of a relegation battle, with Mavididi not looking cut out for the battles ahead, to try and keep his team from slipping to League One.
