As Christmas approaches, elements of Leicester City Football Club are obviously being scrutinised on Filbert Way and at LCFC's Seagrave Training Centre. Mainly the discussions will revolve around the (worrying) overall complexion of the squad and starting lineup at large. Basically, improvements and alterations and needed and most likley expected with regard to the Foxes side.

In addition to an ever-changing XI, the manager is not exactly safe as houses in LE2 either, as they say. Marti Cifuentes' standing with fans and the hierarchy at King Power Stadium appears to change from week to week. Or, every few days when City have a midweek fixture. This period seems to be the most inconsistent in the club's history; I haven't crunched the numbers, but you know what I mean. Yes, clearly we have suffered worse form - like last season. But the inconsistent swings this campaign are wild.

The festive season also ushers in another spell: the opening of the January transfer market. A real opportunity for The King Power International Group (the ownership) to show that they mean business in Leicestershire. However, the financial restrictions (imposed or general) mean LCFC are very unlikely to outlay any funds on players. Although, free transfers and loans are said to be options for the Foxes. To that end, will Sunderland's Dan Neil arrive at KPS?

Dan Neil apparently a Leicester City transfer target for January - what's he all about?

24-year-old Neil is wanted by West Bromwich Albion and our Midlands rivals Coventry City, so this may not be a simple signing. Alan Nixon claims the Black Cats are 'reluctant' to part with the versatile central midfielder, signifying his quality.

"To have that experience at the age of just 24 makes him a very valuable option on the market this winter.

Leicester and West Brom could both use midfield reinforcement, and Neil is the kind of player that could bolster their respective squads."

Even though further game-time is forecast for the Englishman, he could well request a temporary switch. As Neil shone in the EFL Championship, Leicester is seen as an ideal destination. He is highly-regarded and well-liked at Stadium of Light.
