Leicester City icon Jamie Vardy is looking for a new club for the 2025/26 season. Here, we are under the impression that his likely demanding demands may have ruled out a few of his superior options. Though it was recently reported that the former England international striker had agreed to join one particular team. That was in fact a Serie A side in Italy; even the wages and contract were supposedly settled. However, the Arsenal legend in charge of this organisation is said to have pulled the plug on Vardy's prospective transfer. What's the story, and what do we think of it all?
Scotland conundrum for JV9
As I previously alluded, Vardy's expected wage packet was plausibly too rich for certain potential suitors. He is also apparently only considering signing for a so-called big club if he is guaranteed to be a regularly playing substitute.
The other expectation from the Vardy camp could ensure he is playing in a slightly less prestigious competition such as the Scottish Premiership. He is said to want to start if he signs for any lesser outfits.
The only problem there is that Rangers, a place he is connected with, are a huge team. Yet Vards can compete at the arguably substandard league the Scots compete in domestically. Whether the Gers can stump up the considerable cash for the centre forward is another question altogether.
Ex-Leicester City man Jamie Vardy reportedly agrees to join Serie A side - but Arsenal legend supposedly stops transfer
Alternatively, an Italian post might perhaps now be untenable. Vardy was ostensibly close to a move to Genoa. Though he will surely be irrate about the claim concerning la Superba head coach Patrick Vieira, irrespective of its validity.
"Genoa head coach Patrick Vieira has vetoed the club’s move to sign Jamie Vardy, after reports in Italy claim the club had agreed a salary for the striker to be covered by sponsors."Football Italia
Vieira purportedly vetoed that agreement. The report did not state a reason. Presumably the one-time Gunner was unconvinced by Vardy's capability.
