Leicester City will probably never be able to call on their most cherished player of all-time once again. The one-time Fleetwood Town, Leicester City and England man is now playing in Italy's Serie A. And, interestingly, famous former Fox Jamie Vardy made his Cremonese debut on Monday evening. Though the veteran centre forward did not start at venue Marcantonio Bentegodi against Hellas Verona.

The Yellow and Blues were said to be 'set up well' for the visit of Vards and his new Cremo teammates. The 38-year-old was introduced to the game as a substitute around the hour mark of the contest. But he failed to get himself on the score sheet, as he did so often for the Foxes and around Premier League grounds.

In fact, Vardy didn't have a particularly good match by most accounts. Even though his latest side, the Grey and Reds, were playing to his strengths, the Englishman struggled to make an indelible impact in a first outing in mainland Europe. Although, he has plenty of chances left with 35 fixtures remaining in the division. Nonetheless, JV9 (or JV10, now) was ultimately criticised by Italian media after a maiden, underwhelming Cremonese appearance. Let's read what was said of him.

Jaime Vardy under scrutiny from media already following underwhelming Cremonese debut

It has started. You get somebody great and they don't make noise within a few minutes and it's all doom and gloom! When in reality, Serie A and their respective fan bases have something special to be cherished in Vardy.

"Vermouth Deportivo said Vardy "failed to make much of an impact" on the game."

Nevertheless, his Cremo era began without a goal. He may need time to settle; you don't need me to explain the transition he and his family are undergoing.

"Vardy tried to open the scoring with a flick on Franco Vasquez’s speculative ball into the area with 10 minutes to go, but it was easily dealt with by Lorenzo Montipo."

Vardy's next match is at home, the Stadio Giovanni Zini. He will be hoping to impress the faithful and find the net!

"Forza Inter, meanwhile, said Vardy “failed to have an impact on the result”, while Goal Italia added that his first appearance for Cremonese was underwhelming."
