There are two Leicester City-related articles to cover in today's Sunday morning round-up. Obviously the East Midlands side were in action on Saturday (yesterday) versus Swansea City in the Championship. The King Power club made a timely visit to Wales and headed back to England with three points - just how we like it! If you'd like to read our expert match review from writer Professor Robert Garner, who was at the Swans clash, please click here.
Anyway, back to the two matters at hand. The initial subject of our discussions is legendary former Fox Jamie Vardy. The Cremonese striker made an emotional response to a significant exit from King Power Stadium. Which departure was Vards emotive over? Chief executive officer Susan Whelan. But why did the ex-England man write a touching note of farewell all the way from Italy?
And, last but by no means least, we have a dreadful story to inform you of from back in the summer. It appears as though at least one player who possibly left in the transfer window was a true self-serving, snake in the grass! The Leicester star in question reportedly (from the highest possible media source) told LCFC head coach Marti Cifuentes that he would not play for the Foxes over the preseason schedule - or when the season proper began. What a terrible 'professional' that undesirable person really is!
Jamie Vardy's emotional response to CEO Susan Whelan's exit
Vardy wished Whelan well in her next journey upon learning that she had left Leicester. You can access (free of charge as always) our thoughts on the situation here. Vardy's partial statement is below:
"It’s hard to imagine Leicester without Susan. She’s been such a constant presence, not just in her work, but in the way she’s poured her heart into the people around her... Those of us who know Susan personally know her value goes far beyond titles and positions. Thank you, Susan, for everything you’ve done not only for me personally but also my family."
Leicester City star told manager Marti Cifuentes he wouldn't play for Foxes in friendlies or competitive games
This has annoyed me, to be honest. Read John Percy's comments underneath:
"Before Leicester’s opening match of the season at home to Sheffield Wednesday, one wantaway player told him he did not want to be considered for selection. Yet Cifuentes informed him flatly that he would be in the squad and considered the matter over. The player did appear that weekend."The Telegraph
My guess is this was Bilal El Khannouss. Yet the unnamed, 'wantaway' footballer could still be on the books!
